Amazing Results in ONLY 15 DAYS!!!

I get quite frustrated from 30 day programs. I get more frustrated from 21 day programs.

Just now I saw on Instagram a 15 day program.

Seriously. WTF!?

What the fuck can you possibly achieve in 15 days?

In the post they’re hyping that it’s a diet plan, recipes, workouts, a group for support and coach all for only $150.

$150 for a 15 days program!?!

Now, $150 for a diet plan, workouts and coaching might not be that bad of a price, but again, what the fuck will you achieve in 15 days?

As always, I wonder then what?

This is the loophole.

Let’s say it’s a super strict cutting regimen. You actually see results because you go after it 100%. Heck, it’s only 2 weeks right. Anyone can go 100% for 2 weeks.

You’re so “successful” you lose 10 pounds!! Amazing results right!?!

But still, then what?

Will you be better off?

Will you be able to keep it off?

Will you have learned anything?

No you won’t. You will have forced yourself to succeed BECAUSE it’s so short term. You have ZERO plans or focus on the long term and how to MAINTAIN the results you just created.

Usually, you’ll be so exhausted by the intensity of the 15 days you’ll happily dance back into your “normal” routine and go right back to day 1.

This shit drives me crazy!

If you’re falling for this stuff and frustrated with not getting any results. You should be.

That stuff doesn’t work, it never works, and it never will. Stop falling for it.

I hope this post sheds some light on the process of these things and helps you see why. If you want long term results, get a long term mindset.

At least something beyond 15 days. Or 21. Or 30. Or even 90.

Please.

What is Your Mind Telling You?

Mind

What is your mind telling you?

We all have an internal self talk. What’s important is whether that self talk is negative or positive.

Internal self talk is probably the biggest obstacle for most people when pursuing their goals. Any goal that is, not necessarily just health and fitness.

Often, our struggle is because our own mind is getting in our way. If we have a lot of negative self talk, that keeps us where we are and it’s hard to move forward.

You Already Know What Quitting Looks Like

I’m going to keep this article simple.

I get so many messages, emails, comments, etc. of people and clients who are frustrated with a lack of results, or the time it’s taking to reach their goals.

I laugh because to me it seems so obvious. If you’re putting in effort and constantly assessing and adjusting then the results WILL COME.

It’s only a matter of time.

Too many people quit before they get a chance to see what happens if they don’t give up.

The thing is, you already know what quitting looks like.

That result is guaranteed.

The real reason your program isn’t working

  • Not seeing results quick enough?
  • Hit a plateau?
  • Feel you need to try something else?
  • Feel like what you’re doing just isn’t working?

I get a lot of reasons for people wanting quit because “this isn’t working”.

They’ve hit some sort of plateau, aren’t seeing results quick enough or have just had a week or two “off the wagon” and have struggled a little bit.

They feel they won’t be successful with their current plan and that it’s just not working.

However, from my perspective, slow progress, plateau’s and struggle is totally normal and common.

In fact, I’ve never seen anyone NOT struggle with their goal.

To think you can start off on something new, never struggle and be able to reach your target perfectly the first time is a little crazy if you think about it.

What I usually see is that it’s not the program that’s not working.

The issue I see most commonly is time.

People haven’t put in the time needed to truly see results.

We wall want the results NOW!

And why not? We see endless amounts of ripped bodies and ads on Instagram and other social media telling us it can be done quickly and easily.

Really that should be your first warning sign! It’s all total bullshit!

However, you believe it because they have proof! There are clear photos of the success people have had. There are testimonials of how great it has been, how easy it was and how good they feel.

Now I’m not trying to discredit any of these programs because many are probably pretty good. I’m talking more specifically about the time or speed of these results that the plans and programs are suggesting.

In my experience the promotional testimonials you are seeing fall into the “results not typical” category. At best I would guess 1% of people see results that quickly. Especially the type of results that are going to last.

My challenge to you is to actually do some research. Put in some time, put in some work and maybe even reach out to others.

How many people have actually done that “90 day Shred” program? Of those, how many experienced the stated results? Of those, how many kept those results long term after the 90 days?

Of the truly successful ones, ask “How long did it take you to get these results”

I guarantee it won’t be an overnight success story. I guarantee they didn’t nail it on their first try with no struggle.

In the end, my guess is that you’re probably just going to finish this article and say “I know Chad” and go on with your day.

We all REALLY know right?!

However, if your fitness goals are set 3 months at a time I’d argue that you don’t know. If you’ve tried more than 2, 3 or 4 different programs with little success or success that didn’t last, then you don’t really know.

It makes sense in your head, but when you’re motivated to try something new you forget it and think you’ll be different. You think you’ll be part of the 1%.

You think THIS will be the program that finally works!

But please, please, please do the research! Don’t just take my word for it.

This article is just words and theory on a website. Get some proof! At minimum just ask some friends and/or truly look at your own track record.

It’ll be incredibly valuable the next time you hit a plateau or rut on your journey.

When you struggle, it’s not always just the plan or program that’s not working.

More often than not, it’s probably not working because you haven’t put in enough time to get past the struggle.

Having Confidence in your Training Plan

I think it’s safe to say that confidence is a good thing, especially when you truly believe in your training plan… but what happens when you lose faith in your training or… you are too cocky about your fitness.

I’ve seen both situations – as well as runners who have failed from not realizing, or succeeded from checking their mentality.

Like anything in running there is a tendency to be hypercritical on every aspect of how you feel during a run. Running is more of a mental sport than we realize and those mentality shifts can happen without us realizing if we aren’t taking stock in our running or if we aren’t realizing that bad days happen. It’s the biggest thing I harp on with my athletes, how are you feeling? Is it mental or physical?

You can’t get too hung up on the minutia of a training plan… I mean you can but it really isn’t necessary until you’ve explored all other options..

What do I mean by minutia?

Think running 8:20 pace instead of running 8:50 pace – only when you’ve explored all other options should you be worried about easy pace and how it is making you feel. I’ve gone into easy pace and running by feel before so I’m not going to get into it here but my point is that your confidence shouldn’t come from easy run pace until you’ve explored all of the other variables. Minutia simply refers to being caught in the weeds… i.e. not seeing the bigger picture.

Confidence in your training is the greatest performance enhancer, go to any cross country meet in the nation and observe the runners on the line. I guarantee you that the top teams will have a certain swagger about them; they know they are ready and they are confidence that they will race well however they aren’t cocky to the point they aren’t ignoring the race plan.

Confidence in your Training Plan

You need that swagger! it isn’t saved for high school kids anymore. I give you permission to be wholly confident in your training, believe that what’s on paper will take you to the finish line! It’s ok to question things along the way but be sure that the right solution will be found and your body will react in the best way possible… It’s a confidence game after-all.

Lifestyle Coaching

AnthroPhysique just celebrated it’s 5 year anniversary!

This means we have been working with clients online around the world for over 5 years now. In that time we have learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t.

The biggest thing we’ve seen is that so much of our industry of fitness, nutrition and health is based on 4-12 week plans. There are literally millions of products that focus on jumping into an intense program to maximize your results within 3 months.

The sad reality is that after those 3 months, whether or not results were achieved, the majority of people drift back into the lifestyle they had before they started. The eat the same foods and they exercise (or not) in the same ways they’ve done for years.

In short, their lifestyle never actually changes.

At AnthroPhysique, we are committed to helping people achieve true and long-lasting lifestyle changes. In our 5 years of experience, we’ve learned 1 major truth: Continue reading “Lifestyle Coaching”

Not seeing results? Step your game up!

Okay, this post may be a little bit of a rant…

I’ve been working in gyms and with clients for around 15 years now. Needless to say, I’ve seen a ton of people working out and putting in efforts to change their bodies.

Kinda…

I say kinda because I think there is a difference between working out and putting in the effort.

Let me explain.

You can see this in certain types of people:

The people who leave the gym looking just as good as when they came.

The people who constantly complain about their workout or how hard it is.

The people who stop with 10 seconds left in their circuit and start drinking water.

The people who leave their water bottle at home so they have to walk to the water fountain every couple of minutes.

The people take 15 seconds to transition between every 30 second station of a workout.

If you identify with any of these, please read on 😛

I would say that all of those people are working out. They’re at the gym, they’re doing something and they can even take a selfie to put on Instagram and prove it. haha

However, I wouldn’t say that they are putting in the effort.

They’ve got step 1 down and show up, which is important, but they’re lacking on step 2. Step 2 is putting in the effort to make it worth it.

To show up at the gym and just go through the motions isn’t going to get you results. I see too many of these people first complaining about their workout and then complain about their lack of results.

Unless you’re a body builder; if you rest for most of your workout, don’t own a water bottle or suffer your way through every workout then I have very simple advice for you:

Stay home!!

Seriously, you’ll enjoy life much more and there’s nothing wrong with enjoying life. Just don’t complain about your lack of fitness or that you have a body you don’t desire.

However, if you don’t like that advice then you might be ready for the tough love asvice:

It’s time to step your game up!

Stop complaining, suck it up, bring a water bottle and finish your workout as strong as possible. Just like you always get the last few drops put of your wine bottle, empty your own tank in every workout.

If you’re gonna do it, do it! If you show up, give it 100% and be proud of your efforts.

So if you’re not seeing the results you want, it’s time to step up your game.

If you feel you are giving it your 100% every time and you’re still not seeing results, message me because you’re in a whole different category! (this article doesn’t apply to you)

Welcome To The Anthrophysique Running Club

Anthrophysique running club

Hi friends,

Do you have trouble finding running partners? Are you a busy adult that has to fit their runs in at odd hours? Are you looking for a community to share your accomplishments and meet new friends?

You aren’t alone, trust me!

It can get tough having to constantly push yourself and not having anyone to hold you accountable.

I can’t tell you the amount of mornings that even I have woken up sore/tired and wanting to push my run off. Luckily, for the majority of my running career, I have had coaches and teammates who were relying on me to be there and ready to roll.

Imagine what would have happened if I didn’t have those built in obligations!

That’s kind of our mission here at Anthrophysique, everything comes down to accountability – you can have the best training in the world but if you don’t have the motivation to follow the plan it does not do you any good.

There is a great quote from USA Olympian Breaux Greer, “Even Spartacus needs a coach” – basically meaning every leader/coach/”motivated individual” needs someone to hold them accountable to their actions and motivate them every now and then.

This is the thought process that compelled me to start the Anthrophysique running club, this is a virtual running club designed to help you follow through and accomplish your goals – whether you are just starting a couch to 5k porgram or you have been running for decades.

Partnering with Strava you will be able to post about your runs, keep track of your minutes/miles/kilometers/hours or whatever you measure your workout in, ask the club about their runs, and pick up a tip or two about your training.

We’re here to help you; find inspiration to get out the door, ask for help, brag about your latest run, find inspiration from future friends and above all else – have fun while hitting your goals.

One thing is for sure, at the AP running club:

You Will Never Run Alone.

Come see what it’s all about!

Marathon Training: Generic Plans Vs A Whole Body Approach Pt. 1

Personalized Marathon Training

As the saying goes, “Marathon training is a cruel mistress”, why else does every marathoner feel the need to tell you about their training regardless if you have asked our not?

It’s a lot of time, effort and sweat equity put into one day, months away, where you will test your mettle on the road…

Which is why you need to be cautious with which marathon training plan you choose!

You need to choose a plan that will work best for you; a plan that will fit within your time constraints but also work with your body and how you as an individual respond to training. However, sometimes it’s hard to tell which plan will work best, especially if you are unsure what to look for!

Take the plan below for instance: Continue reading “Marathon Training: Generic Plans Vs A Whole Body Approach Pt. 1”

Getting started – it’s the only thing that matters

Getting Started - it's the only thing that matters

Getting started on something is usually the hardest part. I believe it’s the only thing that matters!

I actually wrote a similar version of this article about a year and a half ago but just realized I never got around to publishing it…

I apologize because I feel I prevented a learning opportunity for you.

I’m writing about it again now because I had a new realization about this concept the other day. I even did a Snapchat rant about it.

The Health Benefits of Improving Your Sleep

improving your sleep

I like to classify sleep as one of those things we “know we need more of” but fail at actually getting more of (kind of like veggies :P)

There are many health benefits to improving your sleep and without getting too sciencey on you, here are a few quick facts regarding our bodies and their need for Zzzz’s

A lack of sleep can actually cause the body to act similar to a state of intoxication

  • Less sleep can mean more weight gain (due to a lack of time for the regulation of necessary hormones)
  • A lack of sleep can impede any muscle building attempts due to HGH (human growth hormone) not having enough time to release and regenerate
  • While you sleep your immune system restores. A lack of sleep can cause you to become more susceptible to colds and flu
  • There is such thing as sleep debt. While you may function “just fine” on four hours of sleep, your body and hormones do not. Eventually you will have to makeup that time

Now, I won’t bore you with the different kinds of sleep but know that in order to function optimally the next day (increased brain activity, creativity, improved energy etc) you need to have hit a deep sleep (or your REM stage). Continue reading “The Health Benefits of Improving Your Sleep”
