If I told you it would take at least 2 years to reach your fitness goals, how would you respond?
Would you think 2 years is a long time?
Would you be willing to start that journey?
Would you want a guarantee?
Would you blow it off and find someone else who will tell you differently?
In my years of coaching experience, for most people to truly reach their health goals it takes 2 years, at least, of solid effort.
Now I’m not talking about the initial goal of 10, 20 or 30 pounds. I’m talking about the true, big picture, IDEAL VERSION OF YOU goals.
Depends how you look at it.
If you think it can be achieved in 90 days, 2 years seems like a long time. However, if you consider how many years are likely left in your life, it’s a small fraction.
Almost regardless of our overall health, modern medicine is allowing us to live well into our 80’s, 90’s and even 100’s. Considering that, if you have 20, 30, 40 even 50 years left in your life 2 years is nothing.
You could sleep for 2 years and STILL have a ton of living left to do.
The same is true with your health. So what if it takes 2 years to reach your goals? Even if it takes 5, if you spend the next 30 years of your life living at your IDEAL VERSION OF YOU, it would be worth it right?
I highly encourage you to stop approaching your fitness with a 3 month mindset. Step back, think about the rest of your life and what you really want.
If modern medicine is making a higher quantity of life more of a reality, the only question left to consider is what QUALITY you want to live those years with.
Do you want to spend the last 5, 10, 20 years moving slow and unable to do much or chasing your grandkids around the felid or down the ski slope?
The next 2 years could make all the difference!
